Andalusia's Weather
Andalusia's sunny climate - over 325 days a year - is the reason why it is Spain's number 1 tourist destination. Except for the months of mid-summer (July and August) when temperatures can reach the 40's, the rest of the year is fine for visiting most of Andalusia. In winter it does get cold in the mountains, and of course, in Sierra Nevada the temperatures are freezing in winter, and are very cool at night even in summer.
The region's cuisine is the epitome of Mediterranean food - variety, colour and subtle use of herbs, spices and health-promoting olive oil, of which the region is the world's largest producer. Tourism and olive farming are the foundations of the local economy, and fittingly, the Alhambra of Granada is Spain's number one tourist attraction.
The best time to visit most of Andalusia, including the Alpjuarras is from March to late June and from September to end of November. The mountains of Sierra Nevada are snow-capped much of the year and can only be safely walked in summer - late June through September .
